Trauma, Scars, and Shen Imbalances
In this practical seminar, David Euler explores the differential diagnosis and treatment strategies for Shen disorders, examining imbalances of the Po, Yi, Hun, Shen, and Zhi. The discussion bridges the psychosomatic-somatopsychic spectrum, recognizing that patients typically present with both physical and emotional components. You'll learn to identify and treat both aspects effectively, understanding where each patient falls along this continuum.
Here, the focus will be on Post Traumatic Stress and recovery from trauma that has spread into the Meridian and Organ systems.
The seminar also provides a clinical guide to assessing and treating problematic scars. Scars can act as disturbance fields, impeding both local and systemic healing by creating fascial-plane imbalances that disrupt the flow of Qi, Blood, lymph, electrolytes, and oxygen to and from internal organs. Over time, patients may develop visceral symptoms without recognizing their connection to old scar tissue.
Scars may function as sites of somatic memory, encapsulating traumatic experiences that are not necessarily directly related to the original mechanism of injury. Traumatic events occurring at the time of scar formation may become physiologically encoded as a protective adaptive response. However, direct intervention at the scar site without prior comprehensive systemic evaluation and an appropriate treatment plan may precipitate the re-emergence of unresolved trauma responses, potentially resulting in unintended psychological or physiological destabilization (somewhat like a Pandora's box).
David will demonstrate how to identify which scars require intervention and present both distal and local treatment approaches, including microneedling with specialized serums, laser and light therapy, magnets, diode rings, and acupuncture techniques.
